UEFA Referees Careers Study

SUBJECT: UEFA Academy Study on Referees’ Careers in Europe.
We have been asked to share this important piece of work with English Match Officials.
The English Football Association, together with the Royal Spanish Football Federation is collaborating in the first study on referee careers funded by the UEFA Research Grant Programme.

The study aims to identify and define key variables that influence referees’ decisions to continue or abandon their careers. The research will provide specific recommendations to European federations to enhance their recruitment and retention policies.
This is the first study of its kind with referees anywhere in the world. The lead researchers are Dr Tom Webb from Coventry University (formerly from the University of Portsmouth) and Dr Iñaki Aliende from the Complutense University of Madrid, who conducted previous studies on football refereeing in several countries.

The study involves conducting a survey of referees or former referees in Spain, England, and Italy, which will require 15 minutes of your time. Please click on the link below to start the survey. Your time and effort are much appreciated.
