Mental Health is a very important part of any individual’s wellbeing. We understand that sometimes being a grassroots match official has it challenges on and off the field of play and the pressure can manifest itself in many ways. Ref Support UK, supported by The Third Team, are therefore delighted to launch our Mental Health First Aid Course.
As referees, we face a unique set of challenges which can challenge our mental wellbeing. In the past there has been a great stigma around mental health which has led to grave consequences for friends, families and colleagues up and down the United Kingdom. We want to help referees from all over the UK have someone who can be there for them and provide help and support in their hour of need, football related or not. If this could be you then get in touch.
We aim to appoint MH First aiders in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and bring the UK refereeing family together to support our colleagues and show that coming together will create a better game for us all.
This certified course will enable you to give support to Referees in need and can be completed free of charge. You must be 18 years old to complete this course.
This will be the first UK wide mental health support program offered for referees by any Referee Organisation. As a registered charity (1171000) will continue to work at providing free support for referees. In the coming months we will offer mindset coaching courses and more distance learning to support referees all over the UK.
To be considered for one of these roles and take the course please e mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
